Super Eagles in High Spirits as 21 Players Storm Morocco for 2026 World Cup Showdown, Super eagles vs Gabon

The camp for the Super Eagles in Rabat, Morocco is now alive with energy as 21 players have reported for duty ahead of Nigeria’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying semi-final against Gabon National Football Team. The mood around the squad is described as lively yet laser-focused, with players clearly motivated to clinch a spot in the next phase of World Cup qualification.

Among those already in camp are big names such as Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze, Wilfred Ndidi, and Ademola Lookman. Also in the mix are players like Moses Simon, William Troost‑Ekong, Chidozie Awaziem, and Stanley Nwabali — the goalkeeper who impressed at the last Africa Cup of Nations. Young talent is also well represented: Benjamin Frederick (often “Fredrick”), Olakunle Olusegun, Tolu Arokodare, Amas Obasogie, Semi Ajayi, Akor Adams, Chidera Ejuke, Bright Osayi‑Samuel, Raphael Onyedika and Bruno Onyemaechi have all arrived. Team officials say that three more players are expected to join before the match, which will bring the full invited squad to 24.

Training has started in earnest, with the coaching team under Eric Sekou Chelle emphasising tactical discipline, team coordination and fitness conditioning. They’re putting special focus on quick attacking transitions and defensive compactness — two areas the Super Eagles clearly want to tighten ahead of Thursday’s showdown.  The fixture against Gabon is set for Thursday, 13 November 2025 (not the 15th), with all eyes on Nigeria’s chance to advance toward a place at the 2026 World Cup which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. The arrival of star striker Victor Osimhen — expected later — is widely anticipated to further lift the team’s morale as the squad ramps up preparations.
